Kirkwood is a historic neighborhood located on the east side of Atlanta. Situated in Dekalb county, its neighboring communities include Inman Park, Edgewood, and Oakhurst. It has been dubbed “the small town in the big city” for its individuality- having their own community post office, library, and police precinct. Some of the nearby commercial districts include Midtown and Downtown.

Within this neighborhood lies a multitude of things to do. Some of the neat shops and services around include Augusta Designs, Bark & Lounge, and The Sweet Life. Eateries and coffee shops like Urban Pie, Le Petit Marché, and My Coffee Shop @ East Lake are quite popular in the Kirkwood area as well.
Homes in Kirkwood date back to the late 19th century when the neighborhood was established, but there are also numerous new residences in the area. Homes in the area have an average selling price of around $350,000 as of January 2018. In addition to the vintage homes in Kirkwood, the neighborhood is also undertaking renovations in the area. Kirkwood School Lofts, for example, was an elementary school converted into condominiums back in 2004.
Schools in the Kirkwood area are primarily public. Those in the district will attend elementary school at either Burgess- Peterson Elementary or Toomer Elementary School. Middle school and high school include King Middle School and Maynard H. Jackson High School.
