In Brookhaven’s Ashford Park neighborhood, there is something for everyone. Homes range from affordable ranch styles to million-dollar estates. Several parks and golf clubs are located in the area, but there are also a number of places to shop or enjoy the arts.
Things to Do
Many consider Brookhaven to be a golfer’s paradise, and Ashford Park is very close to both the Capital City Country Club and the Peachtree Golf Club. Brookhaven has only been a city since 2012, but it is already a great place for annual festivities like the Brookhaven Arts Festival and A Taste of Brookhaven sponsored by the Brookhaven Arts Alliance. Ashford Park is just minutes from Buckhead’s trendy nightlife, as well as the area’s famous shopping malls, Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza. Here you will find boutiques for designers like Prada, Fendi, Gucci, Versace, and Giorgio Armani. Of course, after an afternoon of shopping, you will want to hit one of the area’s hottest restaurants for dinner and drinks. Give Pub 71 or Hudson Grille a try, but be sure to hit the Sugar Shack for a sweet treat afterwards. For those who want to learn a little something, the Cook’s Warehouse offers cooking classes ranging from how to make “killer desserts” to how to make your own baby food.
According to the Ashford Park Civic Association, there are about 1800 homes and 59 roads inside the community. Homes might cost as little as $200,000 to as much as $1.5 million, depending on what you choose and where it is located. In 2013, the average home sold for about $430,000. Styles tend to range from charming bungalows and mid-century ranches to large, modern brick homes built over the last decade. ?Many homes are within walking distance of the neighborhood’s family-friendly three-acre park which features a playground, tennis, and basketball courts.
Because Ashford Park is in DeKalb County, children will attend DeKalb County Public Schools. Ashford Park Elementary School sits inside the community and has received numerous state awards for its excellence in academics. It’s also known for its active PTA and parental involvement. Students will go on to attend Chamblee Middle School and Chamblee Charter High School. Several excellent private schools also serve Ashford Park, including Marist School and St. Pius X Catholic High School.
